I Am Number Four

Posted on: October 14, 2010

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore is the first book in the Lorien Legacies series. The book is already been adopted for a movie which is due to release in 2011 produced by Steven Spielberg.

This novel is written by PITTACUS LORE, who claim himself to be a ten thousand year old space alien (Lorien’s ruling Elder) seeking to warn us of hostile other aliens currently lurking in our earth who planning to take over the earth for its resources.

PITTACUS LORE is Lorien’s ruling Elder. He has been on Earth for the last twelve years, preparing for the war that will decide Earth’s fate. His whereabouts are unknown.

The actual authors of the book are “Jobie Hughes and James Frey”, who has written this book under pseudonym PITTACUS LORE.

Somewhere in the vicinity of the universe and galaxies is a planet “Lorien”, which is Invaded by the evil Mogadarians to get all its the natural resources. Mogadarians killed everyone in Lorien planet except for the nineteen persons who escaped in a space ship to earth. In those nineteen persons Nine are alien kids and Nine are Cepans (Guardians). The nine Alien children are bound by the charm, so that they can be killed only in the numeric order. The nine separate, fleeing to various parts of Earth, when the burning scar appears on the body, only then they know that one of there kind is dead.

Three Burning scars appear on the body of the Number Four over the period of ten years, indicating that he is next in the hit list of the Mogadarians. He must flee to new location in order to hide himself from the evil Mogadarians until his Legacies (Super Powers) comes to him.

The Number Four lives with his guardian (Cepan), who call himself Henry. They move from city to city to protect there identity and hide from the Mogadarians who is on earth and killing them in order. The death of the Number Three causes them to move to Paradise, Ohio.Eventually his powers start to develop to fullest.

The soul propose of the guardian is to save the John and teach him how to use his powers, they don’t know the whereabouts of five aliens. They Story is told by the The Number Four (John). The narration is very simple and uses simply English. John tells us that, how the planet Lorien being Invaded by the Mogadarians who destroyed there own planet and now invading other planet for there natural resources and earth being next in there list.

The Number Four must find the others and join them in order to fight with Mogadarians, because they are the last of there kind and only hope of the planet Lurien. These nine children have different legacies (Super powers), which won’t develop until they reach certain age, but they don’t know what the powers will be. The explosive action sequence at the end of the book are just amazing, it will keep you at the edge of your seat.

It was impossible to stop reading once you started it, though certain ideas are far fetched. I am looking forward for movie and the next book “The Power Of Six” which will be releasing in 2011.

Rating : 4/5.

will look forward to this book… am a readaholic and have read a lot of books… but somehow, I have not read a lot of the books that you have reviewed… guess will need to work on that!

Just a tip though; Do not give away so much of the story. A book review should also contain what you thought of the book, characters and plots etc.

PS: There was a similar idea about these burning scars in an arc or Inuyasha series as well!
