11/22/63 by Stephen King is a supernatural, quasi-historical, philosophical, science-fiction love story of a time traveler and this is my fist King’s novel and I am glad that I picked this one.

The protagonist Jake Epping’s friend discovers a time portal in his kitchen that leads to September 9, 1958 from 2011. You can spend as much time as you want in past even years but when you return to 2011 it’s always two minutes later and every visit is a reset (means – whatever you changed in past – if you visit again, it will be erased because you will visit in same time Sept 9, 1958.). Jake Epping learns that he can change the past but it’s not easy, there is some force which don’t want the past to be changed, he faces many difficulties to change small event’s in the past.

Jake Epping has a mission when he visit’s the past and a mission every one want’s to accomplish if they visit 1958 – prevent John F Keneddy’s assassination and to see what will happen to the world if JFK is not assassinated?

The story revolves around Jake Epping and his mission to save JFK but halfway through his mission he falls in love with a girl in 1958 and think that he will never return again to 2011, will he complete his mission or the some kind of force is preventing him from doing it?

Overall, 11/22/63 is a well-plotted, good character development and satisfying novel that blends a bit of the supernatural and time-travel with history. The best thing is the ending which is totally unpredictable and works perfectly with the plot of novel.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed forever.

If you had the chance to change the course of history, would you? Would the consequences be worth it?

Jake Epping is a thirty-five-year-old high school English teacher in Lisbon Falls,
Maine, who makes extra money teaching adults in the GED program. He receives an essay from one of the students—a gruesome, harrowing first person story about the night 50 years ago when Harry Dunning’s father came home and killed his mother, his sister, and his brother with a hammer. Harry escaped with a smashed leg, as evidenced by his crooked walk.

Not much later, Jake’s friend Al, who runs the local diner, divulges a secret: his
storeroom is a portal to 1958. He enlists Jake on an insane—and insanely possible—mission to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination. So begins Jake’s new life as George Amberson and his new world of Elvis and JFK, of big American cars and sock hops, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high
school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake’s life—a life
that transgresses all the normal rules of time.

Explore the Possibilities……

Wow, this novel sounds really nice. I personally have never read a Stephen King novel but perhaps I will pick this up later in the future. Nice review!

thanks 🙂
this is my first SK’s book, I kind a like Sci-Fi, specially those which involves time-travel.

That’s why I feel like reading it so much. I love stories involving time travel, especially if there’s a paradox inserted somewhere along the way.

and the best thing about this novel is – the setting which 1980’s described perfectly and butterfly effect explained with examples 🙂

Really? I’m definitely going to read this novel soon.
