The Pelican Brief is a very interesting and real page turner novel by John Grisham. I have read all best-selling books of Grisham, The Firm, A Client, A Time To Kill, The Associate but I must say this one is better than all above mentioned books. This book is more suspenseful and entertaining than I thought it would be. This book is blend of everything which makes it a good suspense thriller – conspiracy involving high-profile people, assassinations, investigative journalism, decent unpredictable plot and some adorable characters.

In suburban Georgetown a killer’s Reeboks whisper on the front floor of a posh home… In a seedy D.C. porno house a patron is swiftly garroted to death…

The next day America learns that two of its Supreme Court justices have been assassinated. And in New Orleans, a young law student prepares a legal brief… To Darby Shaw it was no more than a legal shot in the dark, a brilliant guess. To the Washington establishment it was political dynamite.

Suddenly Darby is witness to a murder — a murder intended for her. Going underground, she finds there is only one person she can trust — an ambitious reporter after a news break hotter than Watergate — to help her piece together the deadly puzzle. Somewhere between the bayous of Louisiana and the White House’s inner sanctums, a violent cover-up is being engineered. For someone has read Darby’s brief. Someone who will stop at nothing to destroy the evidence
of an unthinkable crime.

John Grisham is an excellent story writer and great at creating suspense. John Grisham’s this novel has everything which makes a book – must read. It has a top-secret, it has a big revelation at the end, it has a conspiracy which go all the way up to white-house and it has big cover up. Every chapter in this novel end with a cliffhanger, it’s kind of book – you just don’t want it to finish but at the same time you want it to end.

Overall this book is suspenseful, thrilling, well plotted and a must read for all John Grisham fans and also those who love mystery/thriller books.
